CA developed Improvement Plans for the railroad station attendant area and Good Ground Road. Good Ground Road serves as the parking district for the railroad station and for the adjacent downtown district. The Improvement Plan centered on increasing pedestrian access and providing safety improvements to the area. The Improvement Plan increased the level of available parking and amenities to increase parking area usage and reduce parking congestion on adjacent streets. Improvements consisted of reorganization of existing street usage patterns; traffic calming techniques to increase pedestrian safety such as speed tables, curb extension, radius reductions, center traffic islands and raised cross walks; visual enhancements including street trees, decorative pavements, decorative lighting, and screen planting; increased user amenities such as an information kiosk, public art, pedestrian level lighting and bus and vehicular drop-off areas were also included. Development was according to Town of Southampton, Long Island Railroad, and Inter-modal Safety and Transportation Enhancement Act (ISTEA) requirements.
