Standby Generator System Upgrades

Project Cost:  $500K

Completion Date: December 2017

The goal of this project is to purchase and install a generator and all appurtenances, enclosure, controls/control panels, and fuel sources; all of which need to be protected (so as to be available during power outages and/or flood events) for the Meadowmere Park Fire Department. The TOH applied for a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding for disaster recovery projects. Funding will be delivered through the NY Rising Community Reconstruction (NYRCR) Program, within the New York State Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR). CA assisted in the preparation of the CDBG-DR application for funding which included preparation of cost estimates, scope narratives, maps, exhibits, etc. After approval of the application, CA designed the improvements which included one diesel generator on an elevated platform above the FEMA base flood elevation. CA received a Variance from NYS Department of State for distance of the diesel tank to the property line, HUD’s approval for Acceptable Separation Distance (ASD) for the diesel tank, DASNY approval, Nassau County Health Department tank permit and Building department permit. The project is going out to bid and CA and its W/MBE sub consultants will be providing construction administration and management services.
